FROZEN PRODUCE Snowcrest Foods Abbotsford, B.C. (65 warehouse employees) and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCS), Local 1518 Renewal agreement: Effective March 26, 2018 to March 26, 2022. Ratified on Dec. 4, 2018. Signed on Dec. 4, 2018. Wage adjustments: Effective March 25, 2018: 3% Effective March 24, 2019: 2% Effective March 22, 2020: 2% Effective March 21, 2021: 2% Effective March 20, 2022: 2% Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for employees who work majority of scheduled hours between 4 p.m. and midnight. $0.65 per hour for employees who work majority of sched- uled hours between midnight and 8 a.m. When employee works more than one-half of scheduled shift in higher classi- fication, employee will receive higher rate for all hours worked during shift. $0.45 per hour for level 1; $0.75 per hour for level 2, for employee designated as first-aid attendant. $1 per hour for lead-hands. Paid holidays: 11 days, plus Dec. 24. Employees hired on or after April 1, 2011 will not be entitled to Dec. 24 or Boxing Day as holiday. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years (with at least 775 days, or 6,200 hours, actually worked), 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years (with at least 1,550 days, or 12,400 hours, actually worked), 5 weeks or 10% after 17 years (with at least 2,635 days actu- ally worked), 6 weeks or 12% af- ter 23 years (with at least 3,565 days actually worked). Effective April 1, 2011, vacation entitle- ment will be capped at 4 weeks. Any employees employed at April 1, 2011 will be granted exemption. Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; double time after 10 hours in any 1 days. If employee does not receive 8 hours of rest be- tween shifts, then applicable overtime rate will apply until 8 hours is reached. Time may be banked and taken as time off in lieu. Banked overtime ac- cruement from previous year will be paid out if not taken as time off by March 31 of cur- rent year. Meal allowance: Paid 20-min- ute meal period, $7.50 meal allowance for employee who works more than 2 hours of overtime after end of regular shift Medical benefits: Employer pays 60% of premiums, em- ployee pays 40% of premiums. Employer pays 100% of cost of Medical Services Plan of Brit- ish Columbia. Dental: Employer will contrib- ute $0.50 per hour to UFCW, Local 1518 Dental Plan. Vision: Employer pays 60% of premiums, employee pays 40% of premiums. $200 every 24 months. Paramedical: Employer pays 80% of cost, employee pays 20% of cost for paramedical practitioner visits, maximum $500 per year. Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 60% of premiums, em- ployee pays 40% of premiums. 66.67% of weekly wages, maxi- mum $510 per week. Sick leave: 3 days, on non- cumulative basis, per year for employees who have worked 160 days per year (previously 165 days per year). AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $35,000 cov- erage. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $35,000 coverage. Pension: Employer will con- tribute $1.03 to UFCW, Local 1518 Pension Plan. Bereavement leave: 40 hours for death of mother, father, wife, husband, daughter, son. 24 hours for death of sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law Seniority – recall rights: Length of service to start; 1 year after 1 year of service (for employees hired on or after April 1, 2011); 2 years after 1 year of service (for employees hired before April 1, 2011). Probationary period: 4 calen- dar months. Severance: 1 week's pay for each year of service, maximum 17 weeks. (For employees hired before April 1, 2011 min- imum of 155 days worked in year; for employees hired on or after April 1, 2011, minimum of 1,240 hours worked in year). Safety shoes: $150 per year for employer-approved safety footwear, after working 1,240 hours. Uniforms/clothing: Hair- nets, rubber gloves, hearing protection, face masks will be required to be worn by all employees in processing areas and will be provided at no cost to employee. Coveralls (or ap- propriate alternative) will be supplied to regular full-time employees with seniority. Em- ployer will supply all required freezer wear, replaced every 2 years. $75 for thermal clothing for employees whose duties are performed in pouch room. Tool allowance: Employees who are required to bring tools to work in job function, will, if tools are lost, stolen, broken, worn-out receive equivalent replacement tool from em- ployer.
