COMMUNITY HOUSING SERVICES Kugaaruk Housing Authority Kugaaruk, Nunavut (45 housing services employees) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), as represented by its agent, Nunavut Employees Union (NEU) Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Signed on Nov. 1, 2019. Shift premium: Employee will be paid acting pay as if they had been appointed to higher classi- fication for period in which they act when employee is required to perform duties of higher clas- sification on acting basis. Paid holidays: 14 days. Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month, maximum 15 days, to start, 1 2/3 days per month, maximum 20 days, after 4 years, 2 1/12 days per month, maxi- mum 25 days, after 10 years, 2.5 days per month, maximum 30 days, after 15 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for work before, after, in excess of regularly scheduled hours of work; double time after 4 hours of overtime. May be taken as leave with pay. Medical benefits: Northern Employee Benefits Services (NEBS) Group Benefit Plan. Sick leave: 1.25 days per month. Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of spouse (including common-law partner), child (including spouse's child), foster-child, parent (including spouse of parent), brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, father- in-law, mother-in-law, brother- in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, uncle. Additional 2 days if funeral or memorial service takes place outside of Kugaaruk. Seniority – recall rights: 9 months after layoffs. Call-in pay: Greater of com- pensation at applicable overtime rate or compensation equivalent to 4 hours of pay at straight-time rate. Probationary period: 9 months from day employee is first hired; 6 months after employee is transferred or pro- moted. Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for suspension or disci- plinary action, including letters of reprimand, adverse reports, provided no additional suspen- sion or disciplinary action of similar nature was imposed within 12-month period. Severance: 2 weeks for each year of service, maximum 16 weeks. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide, at no cost to em- ployees, for all protective de- vices, clothing and other equip- ment necessary to properly protect employees from injury and unhealthy work conditions. Employer will provide 2 sum- mer coveralls, 1 winter pair; 2 pairs lined gloves in winter, 2 pairs unlined in summer; 1 pair steel-toed safety boots every 2 years; 1 winter-rate outdoor work jacket every 2 years; 1 pair winter-rate outdoor work pants every 2 years. Hunting, fishing, harvesting: Leave without pay, maximum 5 days per year, will be given on very short notice to employee in order to meet traditional hunting, fishing or harvesting pursuits. Northern allowance: $26,639 per year. Bilingual bonus: $300 per year for employees who communicate in both English and Inuktitut in day-to-day operations (paid at end of each fiscal year).
