COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS to insure members against judgments and costs in civil actions against members arising out of acts or omissions done by them in performance of police duties. Employee charged with and subsequently acquitted of criminal or statutory offence arising out of acts committed in attempted performance in good faith of employee's police officer duties will be indemnified for necessary and reasonable legal costs incurred in defence of charges. Standby: 4 hours' straight time for each 24-hour period or portion thereof required to be on standby. 12 hours' straight time if standby is required during employee's annual leave. Shift premium: Overtime pay at double time (for all hours worked until 9-hour period has elapsed) when shift is changed with less than 9 hours of notice. $0.10 per hour for each hour worked on shift other than regular day shift for employee temporarily transferred from day shift to another shift; $0.60 per hour for each hour worked on shift other than regular day shift for employee temporarily trans- ferred from day shift to after- noon or night shifts. $0.60 per hour (to all classes to which shift premiums apply) for all regular hours worked more than 1 hour on either side of recognized normal or stan- dard daily hours; if majority of employee's regular hours fall outside period described, pre- mium will apply to entire shift. $0.35 per hour while employed as charge-hand (employee who is in charge of crew of 3 or more). $0.60 per hour to em- ployees who transport special needs students with school district vehicle (employees will be paid for time actually transporting students or mini- mum of 1 hour per day). $0.60 per hour to employees who in positions classed as trades, trades supervisors, providing employee holds relevant pro- vincial trade's qualification or industrial provincial ticket or licence that is over and above trade's qualification cited in class specification. $0.42 per hour for trades supervisor po- sitions. Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 3 weeks after 1 years, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 22 years. Each employee upon commencing eleventh, six- teenth, twenty-first, twenty- sixth, thirty-first, thirty-sixth, forty-first, forty-sixth year of service, will become entitled to 1 supplementary week of vacation Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours of overtime after 7 hours per day (sup- port staff ), 8 hours per day (maintenance, janitorial em- ployees). Double time after 2 hours of overtime. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours per year. All banked overtime which has not been given to employee by March 31 of im- mediately following year will be paid out. Meal allowance: Employer will reimburse meal expenses for overtime preceding or im- mediately following regular shift and for call-ins: $10 at first break; $5 at each succeed- ing break. Pre-scheduled over- time — other than immedi- ately preceding or immediately following employee's regular shift — when employee is noti- fied prior to end of preceding day that overtime is likely to last at least 4 hours: nothing at first break; $10 at second break; $5 at each succeeding break. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Medical Services Plan of Brit- ish Columbia (MSP). Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 80% for basic dental services; 50% for prosthetics, crowns, bridges. 50% for orthodontics $2,500 maximum lifetime reimbursement (on $5,000 or more of expenditures) for members, dependants . Sick leave: 1 2/3 days per month, maximum accumula- tion 200 days (maximum 20 days of accumulation during first year). Pension: B.C. Municipal Pen- sion Plan. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate fam- ily (spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parent, sib- ling, parent of spouse, grand- parent, grandchild, ward, any other dependent relative living in same household). 1 day to attend funeral of friend or relative who is not immediate family. Seniority – recall rights: 36 months after layoffs. Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay at double time (includ- ing 1 hours for travel to and from home). Additional 1 hour for travel time if 2 separate call-ins are completed within 3-hour period (minimum pay- ment 4 hours at double time). Minimum 4 hours of work for relief janitors on Saturdays and Sundays. Probationary period: First 3 continuous months of service. Safety shoes: $125 per year for trades supervisor, grounds maintenance workers, trades. Mileage: $0.06 per hour for maintenance trades employees who use vehicles consistently for carrying heavy loads to job sites.
