Saskatchewan corrections officer
terminated after theft of uncle's funds
Had worked two years
while charges went to trial
AFTER A PUBLIC trial that resulted in a Sas-
katoon Correctional Centre (SCC) correctional
officer being convicted of theft under $5,000, the
worker was dismissed.
The 10-year veteran employee, identified as
"LR," was convicted in December 2014 of the theft
and sentenced to one year of house arrest. She had
been entrusted with the finances of her great un-
cle, who was unable to care for himself.
She had been appointed public guardian in
2009 but was charged with theft over $5,000 on
Aug. 8, 2012. LR told the employer immediately
and an investigational interview took place the
same day.
During the meeting, LR became very emotional
and explained the charge was a misunderstand-
ing over gas receipts and in any case it should

New Brunswick blood worker
fired for excessive call-backs
A TECHNICIAN with the Cana-
dian Blood Services (CBS) office
in Saint John, N.B, was fired after
the employer believed he manipu-
lated the system to be paid for call-
backs that weren't required.
The matter first came to light in
July 2015 when it was discovered
Mynor London, who had 10-and-
a-half years of service with CBS,
was responsible for 40 per cent of
the call-backs for four staff mem-
bers at the CBS office in Saint
John.
