COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS LONG-TERM CARE HOMES Hastings Manor Home for the Aged Belleville, Ont. (275 residential care service staff ) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 1133 Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified in March 2020. Signed on March 19, 2021. Wage adjustments: Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1.6% Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5% Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 1.5% Shift premium: $0.90 per hour (previously $0.85 per hour) for shifts beginning at 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., or later and all hours on day shift after 5 p.m. and before 6 a.m. $1.05 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for each hour worked between 11 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Sunday. Paid holidays: 10 days plus 1 float holiday after 4 months of employment; 2 float holidays after 8 months of employ- ment; 3 float holidays after 12 months of employment. Employee will be able to carry over December holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day) until March 15 of year follow- ing year in which they were earned. Vacations with pay: 1 day per completed calendar month of service up to 2 weeks to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 11 years (previously 15 years), 6 weeks after 25 years, 7 weeks after 30 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of 7.5 hours in 1 workday; all work performed in excess of 7 con- secutive workdays in any 9-day period; in excess of 75 hours in any 1 pay period. Time and one-half for all hours worked on statutory holiday. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for cov- erage equivalent to Blue Cross Extended Health Care. Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for plan equivalent to Blue Cross #9. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $350 every 24 months to employees and de- pendants. Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $1,000 per person per calendar year towards combination of chiro- practic, massage therapy, phys- iotherapy. STD: Employer maintains plan providing 17 weeks' pay, with 100% of earnings for 1 week for employees with less than 1 year of service and 17 weeks for em- ployees with 9 years of service, with balance at 75%. LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of full- time employees for 66 2/3% of monthly earnings up to $4,000 up to age 65. Life insurance: Employer pays full premiums for coverage for 2 times annual earnings. Pension: Canada Pension Plan and Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Act (OMERS). Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of spouse, fiancé, child, stepchild, grandchild, parent. 3 paid days for death of sibling grandparent, spouse's grandparent, parent-in-law, child-in-law. 1 paid day for death of parent-in-law, aunt, or uncle. 1 day may be used at later date for internment or memo- rial service. Seniority – recall rights: 18 months for layoffs; 24 months for employee who is absent due to illness or injury. Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours' pay at straight time unless enti- tled to receive overtime pay for such hours. $30 per day on-call premium. Probationary period: 400 hours worked. Period may be extended up to additional 400 hours. Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for suspension or disci- plinary action including letters of reprimand. Safety shoes: $145 (previously $120) annual footwear and clothing allowance. Uniforms/clothing: $150 every 24 months for winter jackets for every maintenance person. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 1.5% increase): Housekeeping aide/laundry aide/dietary aide: $22.83 rising 1 step to $23.17 Cook: $23.63 rising 1 step to $23.98 Lead-hand: $24 rising 1 step to $24.36 Maintenance person: $24.40 rising 1 step to $24.77 Maintenance specialist: $24.49 rising 1 step to $25.88 Recreation aide/personal sup- port worker: $25.27 rising 1 step to $25.64 Registered practical nurse: $31.03 rising 1 step to $31.50 Editor's notes: Educational leave: Employer may provide unpaid leave of absence without loss of seniority up to 12 months to attend educational courses provided such courses relate to employee's work. Hearing aids: $200 every 60 months. GOVERNMENT e Village of Haines Junction Haines Junction, Yukon (10 municipal employees) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Signed on Sept. 30, 2019. Wage adjustments: Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 2% Effective second-year of agree- ment: 1.75% Effective third-year of agree- ment: 1.5% Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for lead-hands. Paid holidays: 13 days. Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month or 15 days to start, 1.67 days per month or 20 days after 2 years, 2.08 days per month or 25 days after 5 years, 2.5 days per month or 30 days after 10 years, 2.91 days per month or 35 days after 15 years. On termination of em- ployment, employee will be paid out all accrued but unused vacation-leave credits. Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week; double time after 2 hours of overtime. Time may be banked, maximum 10 days (overtime or standby hours earned after 10 days have been banked will be paid out). Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plans arranged through Asso- ciation of Yukon Communities (AYC). Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Weekly indemnity: Employee pays 100% of premiums. Sick leave: 1 day per month, maximum 24 days. STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums. LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums. AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Pension: After 30 days of em- ployment, employee will be required to participate (as con- dition of employment) in re- tirement program, provided in lieu of pension plan.
